Minister of Canadian Heritage visits Rivière-des-Mille-Îles
BOISBRIAND, July 12th 2018 – On July 11th, the Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Honourable Mélanie Joly was in Rivière-des-Mille-Îles. The initiative to organize a visit to the Globensky Manor, the Légaré Mill and a round table with the Petit Théâtre du Nord team and the Minister came from MP Linda Lapointe.
In Saint-Eustache, the Minister met with young people from the Légaré Mill Corporation who benefit from the Canada Summer Jobs program (CSJ) “Our government, as part of the CSJ program, has invested a large sum in Rivières-des-Mille-Îles to allow hundreds of young people to have a paid job for the summer season,” says the MP.
“Summer jobs are an important way for young people to gain meaningful work experience, but also to earn some money for the next school year. I’m proud to be part of a government which values the success of our youth,” adds Lapointe.
Afterwards, Minister Joly and MP Lapointe went to Boisbriand. They took part in a working table with the Petit Théâtre du Nord team and the mayor of Boisbriand. “The cultural development of our region is very important to me. That’s why it was so important for me to organize this meeting,” states Linda Lapointe.
Also, accompanied by Ramez Ayoub, MP for Thérèse-de-Blainville, Mrs. Lapointe presented a certificate from the Prime Minister to the Petit Théâtre du Nord team for their 20 years of foundation.
“I am very pleased with Minister Joly’s visit to our beautiful riding. I am grateful that she was able to meet some citizens of Rivière-des-Mille-Îles and has seen some of the historic monuments of our beautiful region,” recalls the MP.
