It gives me great pleasure to be here with you this morning.
I would first like to thank Mr. Martin Thibeault and the entire Absolunet team for their warm welcome. I am here on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
Mr. Bains is also the Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions – CED. I am making this announcement today in his name, and he has asked me to pass along his very best wishes. The Government of Canada is committed to supporting innovation and economic growth.
Indeed, Absolunet has always been an innovator. From its very beginnings at the turn of the 21st century, the company took advantage of important opportunities in e-commerce solutions, a sector that was then in its infancy.
In doing so, this SME from Boisbriand helped many Canadian businesses adapt to the new context of retail trade, thus contributing to their vitality and growth, and by the same token, helping to strengthen the Canadian economy.
I am therefore very happy to announce that the Government of Canada is granting Absolunet a repayable contribution in the amount of $250,000. This funding is being provided through CED’s Quebec Economic Development Program. CED’s support will enable the company to expand by marketing its services in the United States.
This project will significantly benefit the economy of the Lower Laurentians, not least through the creation of 25 specialized and high-paying jobs.
