Canada Summer Jobs program 2018:
MP Linda Lapointe announces major investment in youth of Rivière-des-Mille-Îles
BOISBRIAND, April 27, 2018 –
Linda Lapointe, MP for Rivière-des-Mille-Îles, is pleased to announce an investment of $699,326 in the riding’s youth. This funding has been made available through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program.
“I am delighted to announce that this program will create 242 jobs in Rivière-des-Mille-Îles. Investing in future generations is vital, and this funding will enable local youth to acquire the skills and experience they need for the jobs of today and tomorrow,” said Lapointe.
Since coming to office, the Liberal government has essentially doubled the number of jobs provided through the CSJ program, compared with the level under the previous government. Summer jobs are an important way for youth to both gain significant work experience and earn some money for the next academic year.
Canada Summer Jobs provides funding for not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities for full-time students between the ages of 15 and 30.
“In concrete terms, these 242 summer jobs translate into nearly 60,000 hours of work over the summer. In Rivière-des-Mille-Îles, 77 organizations will be able to hire students,” added Lapointe.
In addition, students should be aware that the CSJ 2018 hiring season has begun. Employers are now looking for candidates. You can visit the Government of Canada’s website to find out which employers have received funding under the program.
